The Island:
This piece of music really defines what the Solenya project is about, "Storytelling". I wanted my Doorways EP to showcase the story of a young boy turning into a man. The island represents innocence, a island where you and your imagination run free. I encompass this theme with a collection of foley work, ambience, and a very "Earthy" mixing style. My favorite part of The Island is the intro section. A lot of work went into the slow progression of elements as you hear young link walking through Hyrule Field and the transition into an unknown temple with distant rumbles and plucks becoming more apparent. Only to reveal a beautiful horror that is reality, under a veil of adolescence. As a huge Zelda fan (Ocarina of Time coming out on my birth as well as my first game ever.) I wanted to create a perfect medium between my love for gaming and music production. Both tracks were created in 2018 but I wanted to revitalize them for a new modern and cosmic sound.

The Veil:
The darker part of the island. With a dark beat and ominous chords with indescribable effects, I wanted listeners to imagine the ground crumbling away only to reveal a eldritch land so mysterious and gloomy its majestic. The veil is a very long progression but it is purposeful to let all the sounds slowly churn together and reveal an atmosphere of ethereal cosmic horror. I loved creating this one as it really brings out the lonely but determined emotions I felt growing up. I really hope to anyone who listens that this EP speaks to you the way it spoke to me.
